WRASAC Wellbeing Event 2021
Each year during the Dundee Women’s Festival, we hold a wellbeing event. This year it will be held Tuesday 9th March 2021, using various different technologies.
This past year has been really difficult for all of us and it's really important that we take the time to look after our wellbeing. So, each year during our Wellbeing Event, we take the time to discover new complementary therapies, new self care techniques and ways to improve our mental health.
This year we are holding our event virtually! We have so many amazing classes and workshops, we know you'll have a great time and leave feeling relaxed!
This free to attend event is open to all women in Dundee and Angus.
Individual events can be booked below, paces are limited.

Guided Meditation with Helen Hampton
10:00am - 10:30am with Helen Hampton
Meditation is an ancient and increasingly popular practice of mental concentration and relaxation. As the stress levels of our society become higher and higher, so does the number of people looking for a method to relieve that stress inexpensively and effectively. Guided meditation will do that and provides direction and focus for both new and experienced practitioners.
Guided meditation is a state of relaxed concentration invoked and led by another party.
Guided meditation can be as short as a few minutes or as long as several hours.
Either way, the purpose is to achieve mental, emotional and physical healing and stress relief.

Therapeutic Art, Coffee & a Chat
10:30am - 2:30pm, Drop in event, attendees can stay as long as they like
Art may not be able to cure disease, but it can surely make coping with it a lot better. Researchers have acknowledged the therapeutic qualities of art for years, and today, art therapy is used to help people express themselves when what they’re feeling is too difficult to put into words.
One 2006 study, for example, found that mindfulness art therapy helped to significantly decrease symptoms of physical and emotional distress, another study from the same year concluded that participants showed a reduction of stress after only one hour of art therapy.

Weaving Our Tale
12:30pm - 1:30pm with Helen Hampton
Description – Before books, our stories were handed down from woman to woman as they worked or played together. Listening to those stories helped us to know ourselves and each other. Through stories we can connect with our experiences as we listen and learn.
In this workshop survivors can hear a story from myth and legend that can connect with their experience as wise women. We will not be sharing our own stories of trauma in this workshop and if children are around that is ok, there is nothing here that might disturb them.
Instructions will be provided before the event.
